Jay-Z just nearly redeemed himself for joining Gwyneth Paltrow in the most inane Q&A we've ever read by debuting the first new track from Brooklyn singer/MC Santigold in way too long on his new Life + Times website. Jay's such a big fan of Santi White, he featured her on "Brooklyn Go Hard" and last month signed her to a management deal with his influential Roc Nation team. The even more encouraging news is that in an interview posted with the track (titled "GO" and featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs' incredible Karen O) Santigold sounds anxious for her long-awaited follow-up to 2008's Santogold to just freakin' come out already: "So much red tape! S---, I make music to be heard!" .
Santi implies that Q-Tip produced the track's driving, punky beat, and reveals she recruited Karen O (who contributes some ethereal yelping and called the track "rad") at one of YYYs guitarist Nick Zinner's photo exhibitions. She says the song is about propelling oneself to action as well as what she calls a warped 21st century version of the American Dream: "The NEW American Dream is to become rich and famous by happenstance -- or sex tapes -- and to get there with as little work or talent as possible." Whoever could she be referring to?.
