Adrien Broner is back in jail in
Hamilton County (Ohio) after he was found guilty at a hearing on Tuesday
of violating terms of his probation, according to Mark Waters,
administrator for the Hamilton County Clerk of Court. Broner was taken into custody on
Tuesday morning at 10:19 a.m. after his probation was terminated, and he
will be released in 10 days, according to Waters. The news of his
incarceration was first reported by TMZ. The case Tuesday is not related to
Broner's arrest on charges of felony assault and aggravated robbery in
connection to an incident during the early-morning hours of Jan. 21,
when he allegedly assaulted a man and robbed him of $12,000 at gunpoint
outside a Cincinnati bowling alley. Broner was allowed to fight on April 1
in Washington, D.C., in a nationally televised bout on Spike TV despite
the presence of two warrants for his arrest. Broner stopped an
overmatched Ashley Theophane in nine rounds before returning to Ohio and
turning himself in on April 4, only to go free after posting bond. Broner has a scheduled court date on
Thursday when a grand jury will determine if there is enough evidence to
indict him on the charges, Waters said. A call to Broner’s attorney,
William Welsh, was not immediately returned.
